There is a definite spike in weddings during the summer months usually due to the wonderful weather, the nice summer days, and the openness of having your wedding and reception outside. However, consider the benefits of a fall wedding. The weather is a little less hot and more comfortable, your venue can still be outside amid the rich fall colors, and the food can be comforting and warm. Looking at your options for venues you can stay clear of the beach or summer garden and look for an old barn or mill, an apple orchard, or even a very old church instead. The fall is about the harvest and incorporating that into your wedding can make for a very warm and inviting event. If your venue needs to be inside imagine dark rich woods and a fireplace somewhere nearby to accentuate the coziness of the moment. If you are lucky enough to be able to hold the ceremony outside look for a place that allows you and your guests to be immersed in the rich reds, yellows, oranges and browns that are indicative of the season.
A fall wedding would not be complete with a meal fit for the harvest. Serving a hearty meat like turkey, a good rib roast, cornish hens or even a rack of lamb will fit with the season and adding seasonal vegetable like potatoes, corn and carrots can finish off the plates nicely. Nothing says fall like a good soup and cornbread to bring warmth to you and your guests. For a dessert you can always serve a pumpkin or baked apple pie but if you would like to go with the traditional cake look at serving a spiced cake. Any way you look at it the choices of food can be easily defined by the season and often contain a lot of favorites enjoyed by families across the country. Adding your special flare and your favorite foods to the menu is key to making it all your own. Just think of what you enjoy most for a meal as the days get shorter, the leaves begin to fall, and the temperature slowly drops in preparation of winter.
Decorations and wedding favors can be pulled from the season also. As summer comes to a close you can look at mums, daisies, roses and wheat for flowers. You can even do dried flowers instead of fresh to bring in the feeling of fall. Thinking about what people will enjoy for a fall wedding favor think about what your local flavors are. Some of your guests will be from out of town and will appreciate a little something they cannot get anywhere else. If you live in the northeast and have a fall wedding supplying maple syrup can be a good favor to offer. Also looking at giving your guests a nicely wrapped gourmet candied apple can bring much joy all around.
Still not sure about a fall wedding? Think of this. Imagine having your ceremony outside in an apple orchard having a backdrop of trees as a slight breeze kicks up rustling the bright red and orange leaves. After the ceremony you adjourn to the reception where warm apple cider awaits your guests before they sit down to a harvest meal next to the crackling of a fire in the fireplace. If you can imagine yourself there than a fall wedding is the right choice for you.

I agree. Fall weddings are a delight to attend to because the sun is not too hot outside that can make the guests sweat and there’s no snow also that will make an outdoor wedding lousy. It’s also nice and refreshing to see these fall-themed wedding supplies!
